The project - called the ‘Air Quality Decision Support System' (AQDSS) will be executed by December, 2024.
It will be undertaken by CEEW (Council on Energy, Environment and Water) based in New Delhi. Previous project involves collaboration with US's govt for project called - "Cleaner Air and Better Health (CABH)".
Key points
- The project aims to identify the independent air quality in every square kilometer of Thane city, which covers an area of 128 sq km.
- It will use data from satellites and existing air quality monitoring systems, as well as 25 new micro-monitoring systems that will be installed across the city.
- This will allow the city administration to detect potential drops in air quality up to 3 days in advance and take remedial actions beforehand.
- The online system will be accessible via TMC's official website for public use.
Now, we wait.
